International elite athletes target personal bests, Belgians battle for titles at ASML Marathon Eindhoven

EINDHOVEN – The 42nd edition of the ASML Marathon Eindhoven will once again welcome several international elite athletes to the start line. In the men’s race, an exciting battle is expected between Kenyans Davis Kiplangat, Simon Kipkosgei and Silas Koech Kipchumba. In the women’s race, Kenya’s Lidya Cheruto will be aiming to improve her personal best. Eindhoven will also once again host the Belgian Marathon Championships, with a renewed battle between Karen Van Proeyen and Valentine Mathy in the women’s race and a clear favourite in the men’s race.

International athletes chasing personal success

Twenty-eight-year-old Davis Kiplangat is one of the most interesting names on the start list. After successful years on the track and over shorter road distances, the Kenyan made an impressive marathon debut this spring, winning the Zurich Marathon. In Eindhoven, he is looking to take the next step and significantly improve his personal best of 2:09:03.

Kiplangat will face strong competition from fellow Kenyans Simon Kipkosgei (2:07:56) and Silas Koech Kipchumba, who also have the qualities to challenge for victory. An exciting battle between the three Kenyan athletes therefore looks to be on the cards.

In the women’s race, Lidya Cheruto is one of the athletes to watch. The Kenyan also won the Zurich Marathon earlier this year and comes to Eindhoven with the ambition of improving her personal best of 2:28:25.

Belgian Marathon Championships

As in previous years, the Belgian Marathon Championships will also take place during the ASML Marathon Eindhoven. The battle for the national title promises to be particularly exciting in the women’s race, while Yohan Zaradzki starts as the overwhelming favourite in the men’s competition.

Karen Van Proeyen and Valentine Mathy have gone head-to-head several times in recent years and once again appear evenly matched. Both athletes are currently among Belgium’s strongest female marathon runners.

In the men’s race, Yohan Zaradzki will defend his Belgian title. He became Belgian champion in 2025 and finished seventh in Eindhoven that same year. With a personal best of 2:12:28, he is once again the clear favourite to claim the Belgian marathon title.

With international athletes looking to push their limits and an exciting battle for the Belgian titles, the 42nd edition of the ASML Marathon Eindhoven promises plenty of thrilling racing once again.
